Hyde Park Village lands upscale J. McLaughlin fashions
TAMPA — Hyde Park Village will soon have another decidedly high-end fashion retailer.
The New York-based J. McLaughlin retail chain plans to open a store in the open-air village by this September 26.
The store is among the first to come to Hyde Park Village since the property was acquired by WS Development of Chestnut Hill, Mass. which plans a broad renovation of the site.
The J. McLaughlin chain began in 1977 when brothers Kevin and Jay Mclaughlin used the proceeds of renovating historic Brooklyn brownstone homes and targeted a demographic of Manhattan Upper East Side “post-Ivy League” socialites.
The price points for the store tend towards the upper end of the retail scale, somewhere between Cache and Burberry.
This season, the store is featuring a “crepe” texture “Catalyst” dress for $235, a men’s French blue dress shirt for $145, a silk “Barret” blouse for $225, and “Woodley” leather jacket for $825.
Recently, the village has added shops such as the White Magnolia Bridal Collection and the Carlton Ward Photography studio.
The closest J. McLaughlin store to Tampa is now in the Sarasota area, and with the Tampa store, the chain will have 84 locations.
