International Artist Creates Three-Story Mural in Hyde Park Village Stairwell
INTERNATIONAL ARTIST CREATES THREE-STORY MURAL IN
HYDE PARK VILLAGE STAIRWELL
(TAMPA, FL; October 21, 15) – Hyde Park Village partnered with CASS, a contemporary art gallery in South Tampa, to commission international artist, Mateu Velasco to create a one-of-a-kind mural for a three-story stairwell in Hyde Park Village.
“Incorporating art in Hyde Park Village heightens the unique and scenic atmosphere that we all appreciate in Hyde Park Village. We also feel it helps to make the Village even more of a destination,” says Samantha David, Head of Up Markets for WS Development. “We are proud to support both international and local artists into the vision of Hyde Park Village.”
The mural is full of intricate objects and designs that make it exciting for guests who will notice new details with each viewing. “The mural is about the relationship between man and nature. This image is represented by the sea, earth and the sky taking care of the city. Tampa is a city that carries this great balance between nature and development,” says artist, Mateu Velasco.
CASS Contemporary and Hyde Park Village previously worked together to have Tes One and BASK transform the loading dock doors off Swann Avenue in Spring 2015. The nationally renowned local artists used bold black and blue palettes to create two stunning images that give the historic Hyde Park Village a modern twist.
Other recent additions to the Village include London Philips, Bluemercury, Buddy Brew Coffee, Goody Goody, Paper Source, Sur La Table, bartaco, On Swann, Blue Moon Trading Company and J. McLaughlin. These concepts bring a fresh new offering to the Village and are part of WS Development’s efforts to revitalize this iconic retail destination by bringing in best-in-class merchants while simultaneously working with a renowned team of design professionals to bring the buildings and streetscapes into the vernacular of a beautiful and refined aesthetic worthy of its location.
